My New Sedu Revolution Hair Dryer – Save $50 & Get Some Freebies!

Is long hair a requirement for marriage? It seems to be so, along with knowing how to cook.

Two years ago, I decided to test this theory. My hair is now half way down my back. I’ll let you know how the experiment turns out. In the mean time, I’m learning how to style it and keep it healthy.

My phenomenal hair stylist, Misty at Hair Creations in Naples, told me I needed a Negative Ion Hair Dryer. That started my search.

I first tried TJ Maxx and Marshalls; both have a fair selection of hugely discounted name brand styling tools. But was confused about Ion, Negative Ion, and Variable Ion.

Ulta sent me a 20% OFF one item coupon in my catalog. (Sign up at Ulta.com or print the coupon here.) Lucky for me, I ran into a smart sales associate at Ulta at Coconut Point. I asked and all those Ion Specs are the same thing… but she had a lot more info and experience to offer. She gave me a few options in different price ranges, but highly recommended the Sedu Revolution Pro Tourmaline Ionic 4000i.

I loved it! Small, beautiful design, 2 heat settings, 2 fan settings, ion off and on button, cold shot button, comes with 2 small diffusers, long cord, lots of power, small plug that won’t compete for real estate with my electric toothbrush charger. Perfect… except for the price.

It was $160! Out of my price range. Even though I had my coupon, that was still $128. I was only planning on $75 or so. Then I noticed it was on sale for $140… okay, down to $110… Even though it came with a free Sedu Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment
with Pure Argan Oil
, I still couldn’t justify it. I decided to browse nail polish colors and think about it.

When I went back to look at it one more time, I spied a different package with a different bonus gift… it included a Sedu Revolution Pro Ionic Finger Diffuser ($20) AND a bottle of Sedu Beach Beauty Sea Salt Spray ($16)… SOLD! I’ve been wanting to try some of that salt spray, and you can’t find Sedu’s version anywhere, even online! (Go ahead, google it.) If I wanted to, I could probably sell it on eBay for $20, and bring my net investment down to $90.

I had landed three new clients that day… celebration was in order! I grabbed it and marched up to the front, smiling ear to ear. The clincher was that I also got 2 free issues of InStyle Magazine! I have to call and cancel it after those two issues, but I just set a reminder on my phone, handed over my debit card and walked out with a big bag full of stuff I really felt good about buying. No regrets.

Here’s the summary:
Regular Price $159.95
Sale Price $139.95
– 20% OFF one item coupon $111.96
– Bonus Gift: Finger Diffuser (worth $20,  but I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise, so I’m not counting it…)
– Bonus Gift: Sea Salt Spray $16.00
– Offer: 2 Free Issues of InStyle $7.98
Net Price: $87.98

(Only $12.98 over my target price of $75!)
Total Savings: $71.97

Instructions:

1. Print the 20% OFF One Item Coupon. Good till Saturday 6/4. (If you don’t have a printer at home, you can sign up for a catalog at ulta.com, or ask for one in the store.)

2. Go to Ulta and pick up a Sedu Revolution Pro Tourmaline Ionic 4000i Hair Dryer. (I’m not sure how long it will be on sale.) You can also order online with the coupon code 64926, but I don’t think you can get the bonuses…

3. Look on nearby shelves for the package with the bonus gift you like (Diffuser and Sea Salt Spray OR Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment). These are shrink-wrapped into the package, so if you don’t see them, ask, but they may be out of stock. They had both at the Coconut Point store on May 27.

4. Ask the sales associate to apply the coupon to the hair dryer if you are buying additonal items.

5. Use your Ulta Rewards card or sign up for one free. I usually just say “Do you guys have one of those frequent flyer cards? How can I get one?”

6. If they haven’t offered it already, ask about the InStyle magazine offer. They’ll hand you one issue right then and there!

7. Set a reminder on your phone to call and cancel after the second issue. I set mine for a month away, and will reset it if my second issue hasn’t come yet. Do it right then and there, or as soon as you sit down in your car, so you don’t forget!
